Description Psychiatrist for 3 days per week, 8 hours per day, with average case load of 60 patients. Most consultations are on-site but on occasion you may be requested to visit a patient at their home.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education Doctor of Medicine Board Certified/Board Eligible Child-Adolescent Psychiatrist

Experience Clinical experience should be with children or adolescents in residential or community based settings. Experience with County mental health, child welfare, and/or juvenile probation systems and services preferred.

License or Certification Current state medical license in good standing with the medical board. Current DEA License Current malpractice insurance Valid California Driver's License.

Specialized Skills Good organizational, writing, and time management skills. Demonstrated knowledge of mental health laws and regulations, ethical standards, practice standards, and documentation requirements. Demonstrated understanding of psychiatric illness and its treatment. Good understanding of early warning signs of psychosis and its treatment. Ability to interact and communicate both verbally and in writing with clients, parents, schools, other staff, physicians, county agencies, other health care and social services providers and the public. Ability to understand and work with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds in a positive manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Provides psychiatric services to clients, ages 8-26, enrolled in SL programs including psychiatric evaluation and follow up, prescriptions, medication consents, and case management. 2. Provides consultation to SL Mental Health staff. 3. Provides accurate and high-quality assessments and plans of care for clients and families. 4. Partners with Mental Health staff to ensure services are integrated into the clinical treatment with the highest level of quality attainable. 5. Availability by phone to provide support and assistance in problem resolution. 6. Utilizes the “E-Prescribe” system to prescribe medication. 7. Utilizes an Electric Medical Record to document evaluations and progress notes. 8. Participates in quarterly peer reviews. 9. Outreach to community agencies and health care settings as required. 10. Collaborates with agency leadership to enhance the Psychiatry Program. 11. Ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, and clinical policies and procedures with regard to medical care. 12.
