SBHG is honored to share that Dr. Sukhjit Brar, M.D; F.A.P.A., Medical Director at Central Star Youth PHF, has been awarded Preceptor of the Year in Behavioral Health by California Health Sciences University.
What is the “Preceptor of the Year” Award?
The Preceptor of the Year in Behavioral Health award from California Health Sciences University (CHSU) is an annual recognition given to a clinical faculty preceptor who has demonstrated exceptional mentorship and teaching in the area of behavioral health.
This award honors those who go above and beyond in providing hands-on training, professional guidance, and support to students, helping shape their clinical skills and understanding of behavioral health care.
It’s part of CHSU’s broader effort to acknowledge outstanding educators across different specialties, such as Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, Women’s Health, and Behavioral Health.
Clinical Faculty Preceptors support third- and fourth-year clinical training. By agreeing to supervise and mentor medical students, preceptors are shaping the next generation of providers. It is through a combination of office-based and hospital experiences that most of our students realize the “essence” of becoming a physician in the 21st century.
As such, they are heavily influenced by the passion, empathy and fortitude of their preceptors. Preceptors are mentors – a role which requires specific skills and functions.
Thank you, Dr. Sukhjit Brar for your commitment to excellence and compassionate care! 💙
