The Promoting Resilience in African-American Children services (PRAAC) program provides services to African-American children ages 5-11 and their families in San Bernardino Unified School District and communities. This program builds upon community members’ strengths and experiences to provide mental health, educational, and mentoring tailored to the needs of African-American youth and families. PRAAC serves those within San Bernardino schools and the community using curriculum and programming with a focus on using Black History to promote a positive self-image, age appropriate social skills and to strengthen family connections.
Other services include:
- After-school program with academic tutoring, exercise classes, music, and wellness education
- Mentoring
- Fieldtrips
- Short-term counseling
- Cultural enrichment awareness
- Peacemakers – an approach to Violence Prevention
- Effective Black Parenting Program – parenting skills training
- Meet a Pro – African-American professionals visit with students to talk about their careers
