Surpassing Our Client’s Expectations

When I first decided to come to this program, I was a mess. I was severely depressed, had thoughts of harming myself and just didn’t care anymore. The main reason that caused all this was the fact that my ex who I was with at the time had a miscarriage. My first impression of Coastal Star was when when I had talked with my clinician, Adrienne. Adrienne and I hit it off right from the start. I had poured a lot all at once to her, seemed like it took hours but it only took a little while. As soon as I was able to meet the clients I immediately felt welcome. I made new friends and will continue to talk to them after I leave. My goals coming into the program were to get my meds again, work on my depression and learn ways to cope with my mental health. I feel I have accomplished all of these with the help of the staff.

My expectations were a lot different then what happened. I came in thinking I was only going go to get help for my mental health but ended up getting help with much more. As a new client you will find out exactly what I mean. I felt like I was able to go to Recovery Counselors to express myself and they showed they had an open mind and did not judge. This made me feel like I was in a safe place getting the help I needed. My overall experience has been great here at Coastal Star. If I had one thing to say to new clients, it would be that if you work the program and listen to the staff here you will succeed and do better in life. You will come out of this program with a new perspective of yourself and how you think about you and your life. I truly hope this helps and you succeed in what you are looking for here at Coastal Star.

CRU Success Stories

“The CRU is a positive safe haven. It is welcoming, I love to call it my home. Maile’s office is relaxing she is open, nonjudgmental and positive and helps others and does things for people when they can’t do it themselves. She’s taught me to turn my weakness into strength.”

“Most beneficial thing is that the CRU has given me a safe place to spend more concentrated time with difficult feelings of trauma that I couldn’t process outside of these walls. Having a regular clinician available and people on the floor to talk to less formally has been helpful.”

"The groups were especially great here. I learned a lot. I met a lot of diverse people and was made to feel safe, welcome, and like I mattered by both staff and the other clients during my stay. I really am taking away a lot from this program. Thank you for the groups, and your support."
